Center for Women and Girls Mentoring Program

Youth Empowerment Mentoring Program for Girls at Risk

This year, the Youth Empowerment Mentoring Program Chair, Marianna Warmee, collaborated with Sojourner Truth Foster Family Service Agency to plan the pilot project of the program. Our volunteers will mentor girls and young women whose needs are not being met through other social service organizations - for example, girls who are at risk for future victimization, or survivors transitioning out of shelters into independent living. If you want to become a mentor let us know. There is perhaps nothing more effective to help vulnerable girls and women than becoming a mentor. Stay tuned for further information.

Help prevent human trafficking and other forms of female victimization

Join NCJWSF’s Center for Women and Girls as a mentor for young women who may be vulnerable to human trafficking or other victimization.

Offer guidance, share fun experiences, and act as a positive role model, all while helping to prevent future victimization.

Mentoring is Important!

The Bay Area is one of the most active centers for human trafficking in the world.  Many trafficking victims are girls growing up in our own community.  Often, girls are vulnerable to trafficking because they lack support from positive adult role models.  Join the Center for Women and Girls’ Mentoring Program and find yourself on the leading edge of the anti-trafficking effort!

Mentoring Works!

If you want to help vulnerable girls and women, there is perhaps nothing more effective than becoming a mentor.  Many victims of sex trafficking report that had they had one stable figure in their life, they may never have been trafficked.  Our program aims to offer the support that can make the difference.

Mentoring Enriches Your Own Life!

Mentoring is fun!  It is wonderful to share new experiences with a young woman empowered by your support.  Possible mentoring activities include fun outings to cultural or sporting events, exploring the city, seeing a movie, or just chatting and sharing stories.  Mentoring is enjoyable and changes lives – including your own!

Mentees

We mentor girls and young women whose needs are not being met through other social service organizations - for example, girls who are at risk for future victimization, or survivors transitioning out of shelters into independent living.

Requirements & Eligibility

There are no special qualifications necessary to be a mentor.  Rather, the most important requirements are merely an open heart, a willingness to be yourself, and a commitment to serve as a stable source of support during your term.  Mentors must be willing to commit to 3 hours per week for a term of one year.  Mentors must also pass a background check.  A one-day training course will be provided to prepare volunteers.
